Maps tell
people where they are, where you are, or how to get to a specific
location. They are
especially useful in Signs, Flyers, Brochures,
Internet Web Sites and
other uses. T-21 has produced many, many graphic maps, with included text
directions for Stores, Special Events, Building Directories, and more.
Following
is one example of T-21's Mapping services:
STORE
DIRECTIONS.
Problem.
One of T-21's regular customers, a retail fabric vendor,
contacted their T-21 Team Manager (TM) about
incorporating a Directions map into their Web Site. The store owner
said he wanted an easily printed Directions page on his Web Site, to include text instructions as well as a graphic map.
Action. The
TM mentioned that many stock maps show a lot of unnecessary
detail that often confuses users, while others don't show enough
detail, so a Custom Map was in order.
As the TM worked with
the owner, he realized that, since his business was in one section of a huge metropolitan area, two maps were required:
one Area map and one Detailed map. The
Area map would show the general location within the metro-area (showing only main traffic arteries), while the
Detailed map would show individual streets, distances, and turns.
The Graphics Team working
on the project designed Maps that included
only the
required streets, distances, and landmarks and succinct driving
instructions. Then they optimized the maps
for the Internet, so that Web Site viewers with dial-up connections could
display the page in only a few seconds. After gaining approval
from the owner, the Web members of the Team
integrated the new maps and text into the existing Web Page.
Results. The Store
Owner was very pleased and said
that a lot of their new customers had the map from their Website in hand when they came
in.
