the Efficiency of any Project or Work.

Simple
Illustration of the Change Control Concept:
A Contractor for a construction
project must coordinate Framers, Roofers, Electricians,
Plumbers, Finish Carpenters, and others working on one
project. Each one has responsibility for a different part of the overall
job that must mesh in time and performance with the
others.

Without a Change Control System - a Whole Project Can Falter - Resulting in Delays and Run-Away Costs.Other work (computer network systems, for instance) may have many participants who rarely see one another - yet their work directly impacts the others involved. If one participant falls behind, encounters unexpected problems or delays, or performs work that is incompatible with the work of others - the whole effort can fail.
Change Control is Absolutely Indispensable for Work Which Has Many Participants, Locations, or Functions.
It fosters communication among and coordination of everyone involved. When changes are proposed by one participant - all of the others are consulted and informed; then, each participant can examine their own plans for interference and adjust accordingly. The end result is cohesive plans - meshing efficiently; the savings can be enormous. The only way to efficiently run a modern project or make changes in dynamic work is with Change Control.
Inter-Activity Communication is the Linchpin of a Well-Run Project.
Change Control meshes all activity by communicating and coordinating plans and work schedules among everyone involved. This allows the project to be accomplished with the greatest efficiency and the least cost - resulting in orderly, efficient progress. Project participants, as well as those affected by the work, are kept informed of what is happening and when.
With no Change Control - confusion, missteps, and delays are common, and meeting after meeting must be called to work out solutions. You may have seen or been involved in cooperative work where this was commonplace. It's not only frustrating; it's costly:
- It affects your bottom-line if the work is for your own organization - and
- Profit is reduced and customers are dissatisfied if the work is for your customer.
It's not advisable to enter into any work that has a number of participants, functions, or locations, without a Change Control program:
- WITHOUT Change Control - Chaos, Delays, and Overruns are common.
- WITH Change Control - Efficiency is evident and Savings are measurable. A well-designed Change Control system pays for itself many times over in many ways.

The first step in implementing a good Change Control system is to Contact T-21. A T-21 Team Manager (TM) will gather information on your project / work and answer your questions. If possible, it's advisable to implement Change Control when a project is being planned, so that responsibilities and agreement of participants is obtained in advance of any activities. However, if work is already underway, CC can still be integrated into the project.
It's best to have one place where everyone obtains the most accurate and timely information. It's usually advantageous to develop an Information Control Point (ICP) as a part of any overall Change Control system (USE BROWSER "BACK" BUTTON TO RETURN HERE).
A good ICP "keeps everyone on the same page" by providing one source for everyone to acquire the most accurate and timely information on: Contacts, Plans, Schedules, Procedures, and Changes. Its positive effect on organization and communication can be amazing.
Costs are dictated by the Complexity and Size of the change / project, Timelines, number of Participants and the degree of T-21 involvement desired. An average project usually requires initial T-21 participation of one to two weeks to develop a Change Control system (more on larger projects), tapering to one to two days per week. Once a CC system is running smoothly, T-21 services are usually on an as needed basis.
A small expenditure for managing change can result in huge savings in work efficiency. A medium-sized Change Control project might involve a one-time start-up cost in the range of $1500 - $4500, decreasing to $475 - $850/week for the first few weeks of operation; then, once the system is up and running, intermittent assistance may be $100 - $300 each - if needed at all. Special ancillary services, provided by T-21, will increase this. Once your program is operating efficiently, T-21 work costs can be scaled-back dramatically or eliminated entirely. This small outlay can reduce project cost, many times over, by decreasing mistakes and duplicated or poorly scheduled activities.
A good Change Control system can pay for itself repeatedly. It brings all functionaries together to form cohesive, meshing plans and to work as a coordinated team; and "Teams" is a subject that T-21 knows more than just a little about. If you are managing a project or any complex routine work, you should not be "penny-wise and pound foolish." Spend a little on Change Control and save a lot. T-21 Change Control saves.
T-21's Change Control services are billed on our standard 'Completed Work Minute' (CWM) basis; (for more on this, click: CWM). Account holders are responsible to maintain a balance sufficient to cover any work costs incurred. All estimates are only a basis for initial Billing Purposes; charges will accrue from the actual CWM's expended. For more on T-21 Charges, click: T-21 Payments Policy.
