Web Content Editing

Professional outside Content Editing benefits every Web Site - making it the best it can be.   Web Professionals will tell you, "CONTENT IS KING."   To succeed, Web Sites must convey information through meaningful, logical, cogent, and concise content.   Following is one example of how T-21 helped one enterprise:

WEB SITE TEXT EDITING and ENHANCEMENT.

Problem.   A manufacturer of electronic test equipment provides technical information for its products on the Internet.   The Managing Partner contacted T-21, concerned about lack of response to their large Web Site and some negative comments they received.

Analysis.   Their T-21 Team Manager (TM) assembled a Web Site Analysis Team that, after examination, reported several problems, including: "... lengthy, detailed, complicated text and ... an indexing system, inadequate for easy location of information."

Discussing the findings with the Partner, their TM emphasized that Content Editing should help resolve their Web Site problems.   After consideration, the Partner agreed to proceed.

A T-21 Editing Team realized the company's staff was competent and knowledgeable in their field, but their in-depth, technical perspective made their writing style and organization difficult for others to follow.   The Team judged that viewers probably became frustrated, failing to find answers to their questions in the volumes of technical information, and just left the Web Site.

Action.   The T-21 Editors reorganized and indexed all the available information into structured topics and sub-topics, so readers could quickly gain an overview, then "drill down" for in-depth information on topics that interested them.   They also structured Web links, so users could view detailed information, then quickly return to their search at the "Overview" level.

The next phase of work comprised shortening and sharpening text - to convey the same information more simply, and in less space.   At each step, copies of the revised text were sent to the company for approval.

Results.   When T-21's Editors were finished, the company's staff reviewed the new structure and content and overwhelmingly approved it.   One commented, "I learned a lot from what you folks did here."

The company now has T-21's Editors review and edit new items before posting to their Web Site.   The Managing Partner reported new interest in the Web Site, saying, "Our user statistics are up and we're getting favorable comments now."
