Web Language Services - Examples

Language nuances are difficult for non-native speakers to master.   Some of us at T-21 speak foreign languages, but none would presume to write a serious work or produce a Web Site in any language other than American-English.

Indigenous readers are often uneasy, seeing small mistakes in word usage and idioms - making them hesitant and indecisive.   Others mistake improper syntax for an uneducated author.   In any case, it's always best to write in a manner familiar to your audience.   Non-American-English writers can benefit from help by an American Language expert:  T-21.

EDITING WEB SITE TEXT for AMERICAN AUDIENCES.

Problem.   A European Web Site owner had made little progress in promoting her products in the USA.   Her problem was that, while her command of English was admirable, it was not quite sufficient to make a professional Web presentation for American audiences.   So, she asked for help from T-21.

Action.   She e-Mailed her Web Site prototype and downloadable User Manual to her T-21 Team Manager (TM) for review.   They were originally produced in German, then translated to English.   The translation was mostly understandable, but problems included:  unclear statements, unfamiliar phraseology, improper terminology, and a stilted writing style.   With the Web Site owner's approval, her TM assembled a small Language Team for the project.   She also asked T-21 to help develop her new USA-based Web Site for the relevant Search Engines.   This was a smart move on her part, as part of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) effort could be neatly incorporated into the content editing.

Results.   Within three weeks, the T-21 Team revised the text and forwarded it to her for review.   About eight months after the revision was completed, she reported that it was garnering many new customers.

In one e-Mail, she said, "... I studied English in my schools for many years, but when I view at your Editors changes to my writings, I see that I do not understand all yet about the language ... Thank you."

EDITING WEB SITE CONTENT from FOREIGN TEXT.

Problem.   For several years, a European product developer had operated a Web Site in French for his line of products.   He wished to expand to an American market, but felt that his limited proficiency in English left him unprepared to launch such a Web Site.   He asked T-21 for help.

Plan.   His Team Manager (TM) recommended that a T-21 Language Translation Team translate his French Web Site content to English, then have a T-21 Web Development Team review it for the American market.

Action.   The translated Web Site content was forwarded to the T-21 Web Editing Team for review.   They soon issued a report and estimated work time to edit it for an American audience.   With the developer's approval, the T-21 Web Team began molding the Web Site for an American audience.   By month's end, it was revised and returned to him.

He approved the revised content and asked for help in establishing the American-based Web Site and in gaining recognition in the major U.S. Search Engines.   This project, including translation, was completed in less than 30-days.   He elected to have T-21 become the Web Site's American agent, to manage the Web Site and forward all communications to him.

Results.    It took several months for the new Web Site to become prominent in Search Engines.   But, interest quickly grew, favorable comments were received, and sales picked-up at a rapid pace.   In one (T-21 translated) e-Mail, he thanked us for our help and noted that his business was now growing in the U.S.A.
