Improve EFFECTIVENESS of Existing WEB SITES

Improve Your Web Site With Precise, Fresh, Succinct,
Cogent CONTENT and  Effective PROMOTION.

WHY  USE  T-21's  WEB ENHANCEMENT?

By default, creators view their own work with a level of understanding that their viewers / readers lack.   Accordingly, creators make assumptions and take things for granted, that others don't.   This often results in viewer confusion and frustration, causing them to look elsewhere.

A Web Site can be a tremendously effective communication device.   But, to be effective, it must fulfill its designated role and purpose.   If it doesn't, it's a waste of your money - and may even harm your organization's image.   To be effective, Web Sites must be:  Designed wellWritten cogentlyProduced properly, and  Promoted correctly.

Some Examples, Actually Observed,  Illustrate This:

CONTENT Problems:

  • Long pages of rambling text on a retail business Web Site failed to quickly get to the point.   This lost visitors' interest and they looked elsewhere.

  • A one-page Web Site, for a vendor of specialized power generators, had only the store's name, address, and three short paragraphs, describing their entire merchandise line.   The telephone number on the Web Page received few calls.

  • Web Site content was never updated for a not-for-profit, community-based organization that used the Internet to supplement their local efforts. Initially, it was very successful, but, over time, Web Site statistics showed fewer viewers. As there was never anything new to see, repeat visitations were rare.

GRAPHICS  Problems:

  • Few maps or pictures were included in a real estate firm's Web Site that featured vacation properties. Instead, it had long and redundant descriptions of the area, amenities, and costs. It failed to encourage viewers to imagine themselves in the area, prompting little customer response.

LANGUAGE Problems:

  • Unfamiliar word usage, idioms and terms on a foreign software vendor's Web Site made American audiences hesitant to buy.   The firm had attempted to sell their product on the Internet by writing their own content, using English, learned only from classroom studies.   The unfamiliar style and wording made potential buyers wary of the vendor and the product.   Few responded.

  • Non-American Web Site owners lack access to American-English Language Translation and Editing that would allow them access to a huge market.

TESTING / OPERATIONAL Problems:

  • Inadvertent errors on a company's Web Site disallowed a dash (-) or under-score (_) in an input field for buyers' e-Mail addresses - even though these are common.   It also refused Post Office Boxes for Billing Addresses, even though they are used frequently.   These errors effectively turned customers away.

  • Dead-end navigation, link problems, and stale content plagued an online camping equipment supplier's Web Site, due to skimping on Web Site maintenance.  Frustrated, potential customers took their business elsewhere.

  • Theme music, blinking text, scrolling messages, and animated graphics were pervasive on one organization's Web Site.   New to the Internet, they insisted on these devices to attract attention.   Instead, it annoyed visitors;  their Web Site statistics indicated that viewers quickly clicked-off - never going past the Home Page.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO) Problems:

  • Customers must find you before they can "beat a path to your door."   The developer of a product, with substantial local sales, hired a small Web building company to produce a Web Site for them.   Their hard work produced high-quality aesthetics - but virtually no attention to SEO.   The company quickly learned that you might "have a better mousetrap" - but,  Web Sites must be optimized for Search Engines.   Without Search Engine Optimization, viewers were almost non-existent.

W
HY  WEB SITE  PROBLEMS  OCCUR
.

We can't see our own work as others will.   Unfortunately, those who create something are automatically biased towards its design and content - and blind to potential flaws.   No one can be truly impartial and objective about their own work, because they critique with the same eyes that created it.   If you feel that Web Sites (especially your own) are usually perfect, there's a quick exercise that may surprise you;  just click:  Self Test Your Own Website.

"You don't bait a fishing hook with strawberries because you like strawberries."   Some people design or make specifications for their Web Sites that appeal to them - but not to their clientele.   Other times, a contracted Web builder is given freedom to design a Web Site, regardless of whether the final product integrates well with the organization's other efforts or even addresses their Target Audience's needs.

The outside perspective of trained professionals is necessary to create a compelling Web Site.   T-21's experts have the training and experience to improve any Web Site, by:  viewing your Web presentation as others wouldlearning about your organization and goals, applying their expertise, and utilizing the most effective techniques available.

OW  T-21'S  WEB SITE ENHANCEMENT  WORKS.

T-21's Web Enhancement services are flexible and designed to keep your costs low.   You may pick-and-choose services (listed above) as you desire.   Or, to approach the issue more methodically - you may use Web Enhancement services in three broad stages:

To avoid unnecessary costs, an initial, broad review of your Web Site / Pages can be performed by a T-21 Web Evaluation Team.   They will submit a Preliminary Report, summarizing their findings and any recommendations for more in-depth analysis or action.   You then decide what action to take.

(2)  DISCIPLINE Analysis.

Specialized T-21 Teams can go to work in a number of areas, depending on the findings of the Preliminary Study and your decisions:

  • ORGANIZATIONAL INTEGRATION:  analyze organizational vs. Web Site objectives.
  • COLOR USE:  evaluate color scheme for coordination and effectiveness.
  • LAYOUT, NAVIGATION:  assess basic Web Site structure and operational design.
  • CONTENT:  analyze text and graphic content for accuracy and efficacy.
  • TRANSACTION ANALYSIS:  test operational efficiency of on-line transactions.
  • SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION:  assess content for best Search Engine results.

. . .  and more.

(3)  REMEDIATION.

Once our Analyses, Testing, and Assessment is completed and Recommendations are made, you can either make desired changes yourself, have T-21 advise you on changes, or have our staff make changes for you.
